Lorena Morales

Lorena Morales is a Venezuelan born visual artist living and working in Houston, Texas since 2003. She earned certificates in Painting and Sculpture from The Glassell School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. In 2011, she received a scholarship from The Carlos Cruz-Diez Foundation and the Glassell School to participate in the Advance Seminar in Contemporary Art: The Doors of Perception.
Morales has had several individual and group exhibitions in USA, Germany, and Venezuela.  Collectors hold her artworks worldwide throughout USA, Venezuela, Canada, Kuwait, Germany, The Netherlands, Colombia, Italy, and Nigeria.
She was one of the selected artists for SITE Houston 2015. In 2016, she was commissioned by Houston First Corporation to install her piece “Flight Plan” at George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston as part of their permanent public art collection.
She creates installations and sculptures that can be disassembled and rearranged and paintings on Plexiglas that vary depending on the lighting in the room and the angle of the viewer. Her work focusses on the possibility of telling tales related to the impermanence of reality, movement of time and perception of home by using lines, shapes, and colors.
Lorena Morales is represented by Hooks-Epstein Galleries in Houston, TX, Camiba Art Gallery in Austin, TX and Contemporaneo in Asheville, NC. Her studio 324 is located in Silver Street Studios, 2000 Edwards St, Houston, Texas.
